Frank Baker, founder and CEO of Riverbend Timber Framing, Inc. and Insulspan, Inc. began his career as a mechanical engineer in the late 60's with the Chevrolet division of General Motors. Educated at Kettering University, formerly known as General Motors Institute, Frank started Riverbend Timber Framing in 1979 after 16 years with GM. A defining factor in his carrer change was a timber frame home built by his grandfather, also Frank Baker, in 1946. Located in northwest Ohio, the Baker home was the center for family gatherings and memories for over 50 years. The tradition of craftsmanship and quality that went into that home is the cornerstone of workmanship, which is the foundation of Riverbend Timber Framing and Insulspan today. To guarantee the desired level of quality for Riverbend timber-panel structures, Frank began producing structural insulated panels in 1990 and acquired Insulspan, Inc. in 1998. His interest in building systems stems from his engineering background combined with a genuine concern for the environment and the use of our natural resources. Frank currently serves on the board as well as being a charter member and past president of both the Timber Frame Business Council and the SIPA (Structural Insulated Panel Association). Other affiliations include the NAHB, Timer Framers Guild and Rotary International.
