What It's About:

Five years ago, Mike Dildine and his team at Highland Homes, a Boise custom builder, saw an opportunity to capitalize on a strong local market. However, they quickly found that their company, in its current state, was simply not ready to embark on an ambitious growth strategy. What followed was an intentional dissection and overhaul of the business—organizational structure, trade relations, marketing strategies, internal communications, scheduling, and more—to identify and make the changes necessary to effectively control growth rather than be overwhelmed by it. In this can’t-miss session, Mike will open his notebook and share Highland’s story, their strategy and, of course, bumps along the road as they grew their company from 8 homes per year to now more than 35, with significant increases in profit margins and recognition as the #1 custom builder in the Boise market.

What You'll Learn:

  • Identify factors, beyond a strong market, that indicate your company is ready for growth, along with your current process and practices that may be limiting it.
  • Learn how to accept, and even embrace, change and restructuring of your business even when it may seem overwhelming.
  • Discover innovative, best practices for trade relations, marketing, scheduling, warranty and more.
  • Gain first-hand insights from a builder who successfully implemented a planned growth strategy.

How to Attend:

Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
