What It's About:
We put ductwork in basements and attics because it’s easy. But have you ever been in an attic in Texas on a hot summer day or in a Maine attic in the winter? A typical house loses 25% to 40% of its energy through leaky, uninsulated ductwork. The solution is either to relocate ducts to the conditioned parts of a house or to condition attics and basements that contain ductwork. In this demonstration, our experts will explore cost-effective options for both approaches. The payoff is lower HERS scores, lower energy bills, better air quality and more comfortable clients, all at lower costs.
What You’ll See and Learn:
- Using floor-joist systems to optimize duct layouts
- Advantages of raised-heel truss and burying ducts in the insulation
- Condition the entire attic, basement or crawlspace
- How to seal ducts properly
