LVCC - IBS Live - SU873
Alabama Power’s Smart Neighborhood is a state-of-the-art, 62-home community in Birmingham featuring high performance homes (HERS ~45), advanced home automation and the Southeast’s first community-scale microgrid. You will hear from the experts behind this incredible R&D project as they provide a glimpse into the performance data gathered from the neighborhood's first year of occupancy. By offering an unparalleled view into how advanced building practices and systems are performing in the real world, their insights will help you plan your future neighborhoods and build homes that are smarter and more efficient. You will also explore high performance home construction challenges, as well as data on how these homes operate differently than a typical home, making them more comfortable and affordable for homeowners over the past year. They’ll also cover home automation and opportunities for builders to improve the customer experience by equipping homes with technology during the construction process.
The Smart Neighborhood project is a partnership with Alabama Power, Southern Company, builder Signature Homes, the United States Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Carrier, Rheem, Vivint and other technology vendors.
