What It's About

A common thread across the fragmented code landscape is that building codes and industry standards are written from the perspective of site-built construction. The lack of consistency in regulating off-site construction code compliance undermines the potential for offsite to re-invigorate the construction industry. Explore ICC/MBI 2021 Standards 1200 and 1205 as another piece of the puzzle to achieve the promise of offsite construction through industry expert insights from the Advanced Building Construction Collaboratives Codes, Testing, Permitting, and Accreditation working group. By providing a clear mechanism for consistent and efficient approval of offsite construction projects, these standards can realize the economic and environmental benefits of systems-built housing.
