Throughout the late ‘90s and 2010s, 1620 co-founders Ted DeInnocentis and Josh Walker observed their peers working in outdated, cotton canvas gear sourced from other countries using unethical labor practices and outdated materials that didn't fit and functioned poorly on the job. Ted, who managed a major garment factory in mainland China for many years prior to founding 1620, knew the US was home to some of the most advanced fabric mills and highly skilled sewers who were no longer employed due to increased offshoring. In 2016-17, Ted and Josh founded 1620 Workwear, setting out on a mission to introduce a new standard in USA made apparel and workwear. They built their own domestic supply chain and engineered new proprietary fabrics that perform better and last longer than anything else out there, reflecting the high standards of American workers, outdoor enthusiasts, action sports goers, DIYers, and everyone in between.
