COVID-19

As we prepare for an in-person NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), February 9-11, the health, safety and security of our community continues to be our top priority. Our team is working closely with local Orlando authorities, including the Orange County Convention Center and related hotel partners, as they develop new best practices and implement their re-opening plans. We are monitoring the situation daily and will ensure our plans follow the recommendations of public health experts and the standards set-forth by the CDC and other federal, state and local agencies. 

Safety 

Will face masks be mandatory at IBS 2021?

Yes, face masks will be mandatory, however, this requirement is subject to change if health official safety guidelines are modified.

Do attendees need to supply their own face masks?

Yes.

How will social distancing standards be communicated?

All health and safety standards will be communicated through email, the IBS Mobile App, the Official IBS Show Guide and onsite signage.

Travel & Hotels

Will there be hotel shuttles and what safety standards will be in place?

Yes, there will be hotel shuttles and we will limit capacity on shuttle buses to allow for social distancing. IBS shuttles will be deep cleaned and sanitized daily and face masks will be required to board the bus. When will the hotel charge my credit card for the room deposit?

Your credit card may be charged by the hotel when they receive the reservations on January 19, 2021.

What is the hotel cancellation/refund policy?

You may cancel your hotel reservation up to 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival without penalty. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of the arrival date will be charged by the hotel for one night's room and tax on the credit card used to guarantee the reservation. After January 21, 2021, please call the hotel directly to cancel or change your reservation. 

Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) 

What safety protocols does the OCCC have in place?

The OCCC has enacted its Recovery and Resiliency Plan to safeguard everyone working in and around the building or participating in the show. The OCCC was also one of the first centers in the country to achieve Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Star Accreditation. Learn more in the Orlando section of our IBS COVID-19 Resources.

Will food and beverages still be available for purchase in the OCCC?

Yes, there will be pre-packaged meal and drink options available for purchase in the convention center.

Meeting Rooms

Will meeting rooms have limited capacities?

Meeting room capacities in the Orange County Convention Center are currently limited to 50%. This requirement is subject to change and is based upon facility safety guidelines.

Expo Hall

Will attendees have to register for a specific day or days that they plan to attend to keep crowds down?

No, attendees will not be required to register for specific days.

Is there a maximum number of attendees that will be allowed to access the exhibit floor at any one time?

No, there are currently no capacity limits for the exhibit floor, but please bear in mind that the exhibit halls in the West Concourse and North/South Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center are approximately one million square feet.

Will there be wider aislestwo-way traffic aisles, or will you set up one-way aisles?

The aisles will not be widened, but both IBS and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show® (KBIS) are planning to implement a combination of one-way and two-way aisles to manage traffic flow. The updated floorplans can be found here:?

Refunds/Cancellation

Will I receive a refund if IBS is cancelled?

Yes, and you can view the refund options at BuildersShow.com/refund.

How will attendees be notified if IBS is cancelled?

In the event IBS is cancelled, all attendees will be notified by email. A cancellation notice will also be posted on BuildersShow.com.

In the event that IBS is not cancelled, but I no longer wish to attend,where can I find cancellation deadlines and refund information?

Where are the IBS exhibits and when are they open?

IBS exhibits are located in the West Hall, South Hall and in the West Parking Lot of the Orange County Convention Center.  

IBS exhibits will be open Tuesday, February 9 - Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily.

What is NAHB doing to keep the show sustainable?

NAHB works closely with its official service contractor and the Orange County Convention Center to focus on sustainability. How many people attended the 2020 show?

The show welcomed more than 90,000 attendees as part of Design & Construction Week®.

Who should attend the show?

Any professional involved in the residential or light commercial construction industries such as home builders, remodelers, Realtors®, etc.

How can I register to attend?

Registration is available online or by downloading a paper form.

Do I have to be a member of NAHB to attend the show? 

No. You do not have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show. However, NAHB members are eligible for discounted registration fees. In addition, if an employee in your company is an NAHB member, all employees of your company may select from the discounted member registration fee options. See NAHB membership for more information.

I believe that someone in my company is a member of NAHB. How do I verify membership?

Call NAHB Data Services at 800-368-5242 x8313 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (Eastern) or email [email protected].

Are children allowed to attend?

Yes, children under 18 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times when in the exhibit areas. Registration of children is complimentary and must be done onsite. All children except infants in backpacks or slings must be registered and display a badge to be admitted to the exhibit areas. Strollers for children are permitted in the Exhibit areas during published Show hours. Attendees assume all risks associated with the use of strollers on the Show floor, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage.

What is Design & Construction Week®?

Design & Construction Week (DCW) features the co-location of the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show® (KBIS). This mega-event brings together more than 90,000 builders, general contractors, remodelers, designers, flooring professionals, as well as product specifiers from around the globe.  Featuring more than 2,000 exhibits in over one million square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces, the energy at the 2020 event was palpable as attendees explored the latest products and trends.

Photography

Is photography allowed on the exhibit floor?

No, due to the sensitive nature of new products and unique booth displays at the Show, photography and/or video recording of any booths within the Exhibit areas by any attendee/exhibitor personnel is prohibited. Exceptions are made only when permission is obtained from the exhibitor whose booth/product is being photographed/videotaped and/or all individuals appearing in the photograph or video.

Can I purchase photos of the 2020 International Builders' Show?

Yes, photos of the 2020 International Builders' Show are available for purchase.

Security

How is security addressed at the show?

NAHB and the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) hold the safe and orderly conduct of the NAHB International Builders’ Show as one of our highest priorities. Enhanced security measures are in effect throughout the facility. Please be aware:

  • Both uniformed and undercover security are present throughout the building
  • Attendees and staff are required to wear badges provided
  • All persons and packages brought to the building are subject to search
  • K-9 Security and Detection is in operation at the OCCC

    Through these enhanced measures and increased vigilance on the part of the facility, NAHB staff and our attendees we are confident that we will achieve our mutual safety goals.

    What registration options are available?

    What types of payment are accepted for the registration fee?

    You can pay for your registration using a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

    Do I have to be a member of NAHB to attend the show?

    No. You do not have to be a member of NAHB to attend the show. However, NAHB members are eligible for discounted registration fees.     Unsolicited emails

    If I receive an email solicitation from anyone other than NAHB claiming they can sell me access to an authentic IBS attendee list is that legitimate?

    No. It is a scam and we would recommend that you flag it as SPAM and delete the email.

    Will transportation be provided between the Official Show Hotels and the Orange County Convention Center?

    Yes, exclusive complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided between the Orange County Convention Center and Official Show Hotels that are not within walking distance of the convention center.

    Are there any special rates on airfare or rental car rates for attendees of the show?

    Yes, NAHB negotiates special travel and transportation discounts for attendees of the International Builders' Show.

    Parking

    Where can I park at the Orange County Convention Center and how much does it cost?

    Limited parking is available at the OCCC. Parking costs $17-25 per car per day. No re-entry allowed. View Parking at the OCCC.

    Can I park my car overnight at the Orange County Convention Center?

    No, overnight parking at the Convention Center is prohibited. Vehicles left overnight will be towed at the owner's risk and expense.

    Pre-Show Education: NAHB Education Courses & Master Workshops

    Education Options

    What educational opportunities are available at the show?

    There are three types of educational opportunities available at the Show:

    • NAHB Education courses (pre-show)
    • Master Workshops (pre-show)
    • IBS Education sessions

    What is the difference between NAHB Education courses, Master Workshops and IBS Education sessions?

    NAHB Education courses are in-depth courses on specific topics taught by NAHB-approved instructors. They occur before IBS starts, are not included with registration for the show and require a separate registration fee. 

    Master Workshops are 3-hour intensive programs that dig deep into specific industry topics. They occur before IBS starts, are not included with registration for the show and require a separate registration fee. 

    IBS Education sessions offer information on the latest trends, newest techniques and forward-thinking business strategies. They are available at the Orange County Convention Center during IBS on a first-come, first-served basis to all Education + Expo Pass registrants and 1-Day Education + Expo Pass registrants. Expo Pass registrants are not eligible. 

    Education Access

    If I register for IBS, am I automatically registered for education?

    No, an Education + Expo Pass registration or 1-Day Education + Expo Pass registration are required for IBS Education sessions. A separate fee and registration is required to attend NAHB Education courses and Master Workshops.

    Do I have to be registered for the show to attend NAHB Education courses?

    No, NAHB Education courses require a separate registration which includes an expo pass to access the exhibit floor Tuesday, February 9 - Thursday, February 11, 2021. 

    Do I have to be registered for the show to attend Master Workshops?

    Yes, IBS registration is required to purchase tickets for Master Workshops.

    Can I register for NAHB Education courses or Master Workshops onsite?

    Yes, while advanced registration is strongly recommended, onsite registration is available if space allows. Please note that seating is limited and courses do sell out.

    For NAHB Education courses Only: In the event that people do not show up, you also have the option to come early and put your name on the waiting list for sold-out courses.

    How long after I register should I expect to receive a confirmation?

    You should receive a confirmation automatically upon completion of your registration. NAHB Education course participants will receive an email with additional details on room locations and times for each course two weeks prior to the event.

    Can I purchase NAHB Education course materials without registering for or attending the courses?

    No, the course materials are not sold separately.

    No, NAHB Education courses require a separate registration which includes an expo pass to access the exhibit floor Tuesday, February 9 - Thursday, February 11, 2021. 

    Do I have to be registered for the show to attend the pre-show Master Workshops?

    Yes, IBS registration is required to purchase tickets for Master Workshops.

    How do I access 2021 IBS Education session recordings and on demand content? 

    An IBS Education + Expo Pass registration includes access to 90+ education sessions during the in-person IBS, as well as, recorded IBS Education and other on demand content on our all new virtual platform. 

    I have access to the 2020 IBS Education on Demand. When does my access expire?

    International Attendee Information

    Visa

    I am not from the United States. What do I need to do to attend the 2021 International Builders' Show?

    Depending on your citizenship, you may or may not need a visa to travel to the United States to attend the International Builders’ Show. For more details on the visa process or to find out whether you need one, view the Visa Application Information. You can also find out more information via the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs.

    I need a Letter of Invitation for my visa interview. How can I request one? 

    You MUST be a registered attendee or exhibitor of the 2021 Show to request a letter of invitation. If you are an attendee, during registration you will be asked if you require a Letter of Invitation. If yes, you will be presented with an online form to confirm the necessary information for the letter. Upon completion of your registration, you will be able to access a PDF copy of the Letter of Invitation via email. You may also choose to receive a mailed copy. If you are an exhibitor, you will find instructions to request a letter of invitation on your registration acknowledgement page and in your confirmation email.

    I need my letter more quickly. Can you ship is via express mail?

    Yes. If you need to receive your letter more quickly we can send it vie Federal Express or UPS. You will to include a valid Federal Express or UPS account number when submitting your request. If you do not include a valid account number, the letter will be sent by standard international mail. NAHB may contact you via email to verify this information.  

    Can you send my letter of invitation to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate for my interview?

    No. NAHB cannot send letters directly to embassies or consulates. No exceptions are made.

    Visa Waiver Program & Electronic System of Travel Authorization

    I am from a country that is part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), so I do note need a visa or letter of invitation. Is there anything else I need to do?

    Yes. A valid Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval is required for all eligible Visa Waiver Program (VWP) participants to travel to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security's ESTA is an automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the VWP. ESTA applications may be completed FREE online at the official Department of Homeland Security website.  

    This is not my first time at IBS. I have traveled to the U.S. and/or attended the show before. Do I still need ESTA approval?

    Yes. The Department of Homeland Security strictly enforces this requirement. VWP travelers who have not obtained approval through ESTA should expect to be denied boarding on any air carrier bound for the United States. Be sure to fill out and submit your application well in advance of your travel dates.
