COVID-19

Guidance related to large gatherings relative to COVID-19 (also referred to as SARS-CoV-2) and associated variants continues to change. What will remain constant is the commitment of the NKBA’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show® (KBIS) and the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) to the health and safety of attendees, exhibitors, partners and staff at our shows.

We are working with our vendors, partners and the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) to protect your health and deliver a safe and productive environment in which to conduct business.

Individuals that attend or exhibit at either show should will need to follow our Health and Safety Protocols, which are based on current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Florida and local Orlando health authorities.

Safety 

Will face masks be mandatory at IBS 2022?

Yes, all attendees, exhibitors, contractors, laborers, etc. are required to wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status when riding on an Official Show Hotel Shuttle and when indoors at the OCCC from move-in through move-out and at other show related venues. 

Do attendees need to supply their own face masks?

Yes.

How will social distancing standards be communicated?

All health and safety standards will be communicated through email, the IBS Mobile App, the Official IBS Show Guide and onsite signage.

Travel & Hotels

Will there be hotel shuttles and what safety standards will be in place?

Yes, there will be hotel shuttles. All registered attendees and exhibitors are required to wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status when riding on an Official Show Hotel Shuttle.

When will the hotel charge my credit card for the room deposit?

Your credit card may be charged by the hotel when they receive the reservations January 15-19, 2022.

What is the hotel cancellation/refund policy?

You may cancel your hotel reservation up to 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival without penalty. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of the arrival date will be charged by the hotel for one night's room and tax on the credit card used to guarantee the reservation. After January 20, 2022, please call the hotel directly to cancel or change your reservation.

Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) 

What safety protocols does the OCCC have in place?

Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) has received its Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation on outbreak prevention, response and recovery. Recognized as the gold standard of safe venues, the OCCC is one of the largest venues in the nation to receive the GBAC STAR™ accreditation. See this comprehensive outline of the OCCC’s efforts.

Will food and beverages still be available for purchase in the OCCC?

Yes, there will be food and beverage options available for purchase throughout the convention center as well as menus for in-booth catering. Outside food and beverages continue to be prohibited.

Meeting Rooms

Will meeting rooms have limited capacities?

Currently there are no restrictions on meeting room capacities at the OCCC.

Expo Hall

Will attendees have to register for a specific day or days that they plan to attend to keep crowds down?

No, attendees will not be required to register for specific days. All registration types will allow for access on all three show days.

Is there a maximum number of attendees that will be allowed to access the exhibit floor at any one time?

No, there are currently no capacity limits for the exhibit floor, but please bear in mind that the exhibit halls in the West and South Concourses of the Orange County Convention Center are approximately one million square feet.

Will there be wider aisles, two-way traffic aisles, or will you set up one-way aisles?

Existing booths will not be redrawn or adjusted to allow for wider aisles or traffic flow management. A decision will be made this winter on whether one-way aisles will be implemented by IBS and the NKBA Kitchen and Bath Industry Show® (KBIS).

Where are the IBS exhibits and when are they open?

IBS exhibits are located in the West Hall, South Hall and in the West Parking Lot of the Orange County Convention Center.

IBS exhibits will be open Tuesday, February 8 - Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily.

Any professional involved in the residential or light commercial construction industries such as home builders, remodelers, Realtors®, etc.

How can I register to attend?

Registration is available online.

Do I have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show?

No. You do not have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show. However, NAHB members are eligible for discounted registration fees. In addition, if an employee in your company is an NAHB member, all employees of your company may select from the discounted member registration fee options. See NAHB membership for more information.

I believe that someone in my company is a member of NAHB. How do I verify membership?

Are children allowed to attend?

Yes, children under 18 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times when in the exhibit areas. Registration of children is complimentary and must be done onsite. All children except infants in backpacks or slings must be registered and display a badge to be admitted to the exhibit areas. Strollers for children are permitted in the Exhibit areas during published Show hours. Attendees assume all risks associated with the use of strollers on the Show floor, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage.

Is photography allowed on the Exhibit floor?

No, due to the sensitive nature of new products and unique booth displays at the Show, photography and/or video recording of any booths within the Exhibit areas by any attendee/exhibitor personnel is prohibited. Exceptions are made only when permission is obtained from the exhibitor whose booth/product is being photographed/videotaped and/or all individuals appearing in the photograph or video.

What is IBS doing to keep the Show sustainable?

NAHB works closely with its official service contractor and the Orange County Convention Center to focus on sustainability. How is security addressed at the Show?

NAHB and the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) hold the safe and orderly conduct of the NAHB International Builders’ Show as one of our highest priorities. Enhanced security measures are in effect throughout the facility. Please be aware:

  • Both uniformed and undercover security are present throughout the building
  • Attendees and staff are required to wear badges provided
  • All persons and packages brought to the building are subject to search

While on-site attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to report anything that appears suspicious by:

  • Calling 911

Through these enhanced measures and increased vigilance on the part of the facility, NAHB staff and our attendees we are confident that we will achieve our mutual safety goals.

What is Design & Construction Week®?

Design & Construction Week® (DCW) features the co-location of the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show® (KBIS). This mega-event brings together more than 90,000 builders, general contractors, remodelers, designers, flooring professionals, as well as product specifiers from around the globe.  Featuring more than 2,000 exhibits in over one million square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces, the energy at the 2020 event was palpable as attendees explored the latest products and trends.

How long after I register should I be expected to receive a confirmation?

You will receive a confirmation immediately upon completing your registration.

I think I've already registered. How do I verify my registration?

Call the Registration and Housing Office at 747-226-7761 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm (Central) or email [email protected].

How do I make changes to my registration information prior to the Show?

You can make changes to your registration online using your confirmation number and last name to log into your record. If you do not have your confirmation number, changes can be made by calling the Registration and Housing Office at 747-226-7761 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm (Central).

What is the registration cancellation policy for the Show?

Expo Pass (including spouses): Non-refundable and all sales are final.

All Access Pass, First Time Attendee, 1-Day Education + Expo Pass (including spouses): Once a registration has been processed, a $35 fee will be charged per cancellation. If a registration & special event ticket bundle is purchased only the registration fee portion of the bundle is refundable as outlined above. The special event ticket portion of the bundle is non-refundable. Requests for refunds must be received in writing by January 7, 2022 via email at [email protected].

Special Events: Tickets to special events including those purchased in a bundled registration package are non-refundable. All sales are final. 

Weather: A request for a weather-related refund of registration fees will be considered by NAHB at its sole discretion, on a case-by-case basis, provided the request is received by NAHB within five (5) business days after the close of the Event. If approved, in lieu of a refund of the amount of the registration fee, NAHB will register the individual for the next Event at no charge and will provide the identical registration type that was originally purchased.

If I receive an email solicitation from anyone other than NAHB claiming they can sell me access to an authentic IBS attendee list is that legitimate?

No. It is a scam and we would recommend that you flag it as SPAM and delete the email.

Hotel and Transportation Information 

What are the Official Show Hotels and how do I book a room?

View the list and descriptions of the 2022 IBS Official Show Hotels. Hotel reservations can be made online during the registration process. All hotel accommodation requests must be made through the NAHB International Builders' Show Registration and Housing Office or online. Show hotels will not accept individual or direct requests for rooms.

Where can I check hotel availability for my arrival/departure dates?

What are the benefits of booking hotel rooms through the Show?

For your convenience, NAHB organizes rooms with an assortment of outstanding Orlando hotels that offer a wide variety of accommodations, amenities and very competitive rates. We understand that you have many options for making hotel reservations. However, by supporting NAHB's commitment to the Orlando hotel community, you benefit in many ways, including:

How do I find my State or Local Association assigned hotel?

What is the hotel cancellation and modification policy?

Room cancellations received on or before Friday, January 7, 2022 will be processed without penalty. Failure to check in on your scheduled arrival day or cancellation of your hotel reservation will result in a first night's room and tax penalty. Please refer to your hotel confirmation for the specific cancellation policy at your hotel.

If you need to modify or cancel your hotel room reservation, please follow these guidelines:

January 7, 2022: Final deadline to make changes and room cancellations online.

January 8 – January 14, 2022: Please send change or cancellation requests by email to [email protected].

January 15-19, 2022: No cancellations or modifications may be made during this time. All hotel reservations are being processed and transferred to the hotels. The hotel will charge a first night’s room and tax deposit to the credit card provided upon receiving the reservation.

Commencing January 20, 2022: Attendees must contact the hotel directly to cancel or modify room reservations. Failure to cancel in accordance with the cancellation policy printed on your confirmation will result in the forfeiture of the entire deposit. Under no circumstances will NAHB be responsible for refunding or returning a processing fee or room deposit for a canceled room reservation nor will NAHB be responsible for any damages from a failure to cancel a reservation.

January 25, 2022: Hotel confirmation numbers will be sent to all those who have hotel reservations.

Will transportation be provided between the Official Show Hotels and the Orange County Convention Center?

Yes, complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided between the Orange County Convention Center and Official Show Hotels that are not within walking distance.

Are there any special rates on airfare or rental car rates for attendees of the Show?

Yes, NAHB negotiates special travel and transportation discounts for attendees of the International Builders' Show.

Where can I park at the Orange County Convention Center and how much does it cost?

Limited parking is available at the OCCC. Parking costs $20-30 per car per day. View Parking at the OCCC.

Can I park my car overnight at the Orange County Convention Center?

No, overnight parking at the Convention Center is prohibited. Vehicles left overnight will be towed at the owner's risk and expense.

Is there a place to store luggage at the Las Vegas Convention Center?

Are nursing/wellness facilities available at the Orange County Convention Center?

Yes. Nursing/wellness rooms are in the following locations at the OCCC.

Pre-Show Education Course Information

What educational opportunities are available at the Show?

There are three types of educational opportunities available at the Show:

Where can I find Pre-Show Education fees and cancellation information?

View the Pre-Show NAHB Education Fees and Cancellation Policies. An IBS Expo Pass is included with the purchase of an NAHB Education course.

IBS Master Workshops cost $75 per person per workshop and are non-refundable. All sales are final. An IBS Registration is required to purchase a ticket and attend a Master Workshop.

What is the difference between Pre-Show NAHB Education Courses, IBS Master Workshops and IBS Education Sessions?

Pre-Show NAHB Courses are half-day and full-day courses on specific topics taught by NAHB-approved instructors. They are not included with registration for the Show and require a separate fee.

IBS Master Workshops are in-depth, 3-hour intensive programs that dig deep into industry topics. IBS Registration is required to purchase a ticket and attend a Master Workshop.

IBS Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis to All Access Pass and 1-Day Education with Expo Pass Registrants.

If I register for IBS, am I automatically registered for Pre-Show NAHB Education courses or IBS Master Workshops?

No, a separate fee and registration is required for each type of education.

Do I have to be registered for the Show to attend the Pre-Show NAHB Education Courses?

No, Pre-Show Education is a separate registration which includes an Expo Pass to access the IBS and KBIS exhibit floor Tuesday, February 8 through Thursday, February 10.

Do I have to be registered for the Show to attend the IBS Master Workshops?

Yes, any IBS registration type is required to attend a Master Workshop.

Can I register for Pre-Show NAHB Education courses or IBS Master Workshops on-site?

If space allows, tickets may be available for purchase prior to the start of the course.

How long after I register should I expect to receive a confirmation?

You will receive a confirmation immediately upon completing your registration. You will receive details on room locations and times for each course by mail within two weeks prior to the event.

Can I purchase the Pre-Show Education materials without registering for and attending the courses?

No, the course materials are not sold separately.

How can I become a speaker at the 2022 Show?

Where do I obtain additional information on Professional Designation programs offered by NAHB?

Will IBS Education sessions be recorded and how do I get access?

Yes, a variety of IBS Education sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the Show. Access to the recorded sessions is included with the purchase of an All Access Pass.* Emails with instructions for accessing the 2022 IBS recordings will be sent to all eligible registrants shortly after the Show concludes.

* HBA Staff, spouse, student and exhibitor registrants are excluded.

International Attendee Information

I am not from the United States. What do I need to do to attend the 2022 International Builders' Show?

Depending on your citizenship, you may or may not need a visa to travel to the United States to attend the International Builders’ Show. For more details on the visa process or to find out whether you need one, view the Visa Application Information. You can also find out more information via the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs.

I need a Letter of Invitation for my visa interview. How can I request one?

Letters of Invitation will be available upon request. You MUST be a registered attendee or exhibitor of the 2022 Show to request a letter of invitation. After you have completed your registration, including payment, you will see instructions on the acknowledgement page and the confirmation email that will take you to the online form where you enter the necessary information, including your registration confirmation ID number. Once you have submitted your information, you will receive a PDF copy of the letter of invitation via email. You may also choose to receive a mailed copy.

I need my letter more quickly. Can you ship is via express mail?

Yes. If you need to receive your letter more quickly we can send it vie Federal Express or UPS. You will to include a valid Federal Express or UPS account number when submitting your request. If you do not include a valid account number, the letter will be sent by standard international mail. NAHB may contact you via email to verify this information.

Can you send my letter of invitation to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate for my interview?

No. NAHB cannot send letters directly to embassies or consulates. No exceptions are made.

I am from a country that is part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), so I do note need a visa or letter of invitation. Is there anything else I need to do?

Yes. A valid Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval is required for all eligible Visa Waiver Program (VWP) participants to travel to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security's ESTA is an automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the VWP. ESTA applications may be completed FREE online at the official Department of Homeland Security website.

This is not my first time at IBS - I have traveled to the U.S. and/or attended the Show before. Do I still need ESTA approval?

Yes. The Department of Homeland Security strictly enforces this requirement. VWP travelers who have not obtained approval through ESTA should expect to be denied boarding on any air carrier bound for the United States. Be sure to fill out and submit your application well in advance of your travel dates.

What are the COVID regulations we must adhere to in order to successfully travel to the U.S. for IBS?

The IBS show will be following CDC regulations.

Should I purchase travel insurance in the event pandemic-related or COVID related events impact my trip?

Even if fully vaccinated, international IBS attendees should consider safe-guiding their trip against pandemic-related problems when they travel. It is best to consider travel insurance that will cover COVID related trip cancellations and medical expenses. The U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs offers a list of overseas insurance providers as a resource.
