Building Knowledge Session
Change Orders: Make Money, Lose Money, Your Choice
Thursday, February 2 | 8:30 - 9:30 AM
LVCC - West 223
What It’s About
Change orders are inevitable and can be money makers or losers. It just depends on how you handle them. Setting the structure in the contract, getting client buy-in with production at the preconstruction meeting, how the field staff interacts with the client and calculating all the cost are just part of making money. In this session, each will be discussed, and a clear direction for success will be given.
What You’ll Learn
- Identify the seven areas where money is often lost from change orders.
- Understand how to ensure your team is on the same page with change orders by setting proper onsite expectations.
- Recognize how allowance changes, loss of opportunity days and missing admin costs impact profit and know what to do about it.
- Learn to accurately calculate the true costs of a change order and the impact of reduced mark-up.
