The world population is expected to reach 9.8 billion in 2050. To meet global building demand, we must build the equivalent of New York City every month for the next 40 years. How we build hasn't changed in nearly 200 years and shortages of skilled labor and increasing material costs have made it unsustainable. But there is a better way. This program will discuss how we can streamline and improve our methods, including the Design-Make-Build™ process, a breakthrough construction process that unlocks opportunities for the industry by optimizing building through designing for advanced components made offsite and installed onsite. By enabling upfront collaboration between engineers, architects, builders and (component) manufacturers in the design phase, the value of that optimization is more fully realized. This can be especially evident in multifamily projects where efficiencies of many kinds scale with the size of the project.
