Alan (with his brother Bob who retired in 2017) has run a residential remodeling business for 47 years in the suburbs of Hartford, CT and is currently transitioning his time and efforts to be a consultant, mentor, teacher and author covering financial matters important to making a profit in that industry. He has been an instructor at the IBS on and off, (probably 15 times) since 1991, JLC around 25 times starting in 1993, at the SEBC, PCBC, dozens of local associations and for several manufacturers. He covers key areas of business success such as pricing strategies, defensive estimating, cash management, business planning, budgeting, markup and margin, job costing and other financial subjects. He has participated in the writing of NAHB designation classes as the chief content provider for Business management, Financial management, CAPS3 and as a subject matter expert on 4 or 5 others and a reviewer of many more dealing with accounting, estimating, and job costing. He was, at one time, approved to teach around 13 of those designation classes. Alan has a BS degree in management and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and lives in Newington CT with his wife Debbie of 44 years.
