What It's About:
These days, the best roofs shed water, eliminate ice dams, reflect unwanted heat gain, maximize insulation and produce renewable electricity. That’s a lot to ask. In this demonstration, we’ll highlight critical roof details for reducing a home’s energy needs and multiple options for producing renewable energy. Our building experts will discuss insulation choices, radiant barriers and cold roofs versus hot roofs. They’ll also show several ways to vent a roof and how to make sure your roof is ready for solar panels.
What You’ll See and Learn:
- Closed cell or open cell in the roof
- How to install rigid foam over the sheathing; why you need to vent even with spray foam
- The importance and installation of radiant barriers
- Best options for adding solar panels and how to prep your roof for their installation
How to Participate:
Demos and activities in the High Performance Building Zone are free to attend and no pre-registration is required. To participate, please visit the HPBZ at the date, time and location indicated above. Seating will be available.
