We will use Styrofoam insulation and GreatStuff to insulate wall cavities before the shower unit is installed. We will also demonstrate how to install continuous insulation (CI) on the outside of a wall. We will buck out a door opening and flash it using Dupont flashing tapes, and finally, we will install RainVent Battens over the styrofoam. Products used: Dupont Styrofoam, GreatStuff, Flex Wrap, Straight Flash, and RainVent.

We will also install a backsplash wall, cutting holes in the Thinscape for plumbing and Skills challenge activities.

Mike Lubliner of ORNL introduces the new tool for choosing wall assemblies. The tool analyzes assemblies for their riskiness in different climate zones. He will use the wall we’ve built as an example to tell which climate zones the assembly would be good, better, or best.

Last year’s Jobsite Skills Challenge was so much fun we’re bringing it back! Audience members volunteer to test their skills (and TikTok dances) against the competition. Take on these challenges: Bend a Kickout Flashing, Walk the Plates, Install a Window, Trim a Window, Chuck the Hammer, Install a Shower Panel, Seal a Rim Joist, and a TikTok Dance. Winners receive prizes, medals, and bragging rights. Do you have what it takes?
