For multifamily architects and developers new to green building certifications, the process can be daunting. There are many different programs, acronyms, incentives, costs and benefits. Do they really have value for multifamily properties? One new benefit that could tip the scales is that some states have adopted the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and allowed the 2020 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) certification (silver level) as an alternative compliance option. In this program, we'll discuss this and other benefits of green certification for multifamily properties.
