Maxell ltd. has boasted a rich history making high-quality products since the 1960s. However the brand really began gaining notoriety in the 1980s U.S. during the MTV era for its cassette tapes, VHS tapes and headphones and eventually digital storage media, and industrial batteries. The iconic ‘Blown Away Man' advertisement has become a part of pop culture and is widely recognizable here in the States, embodying both high-quality and cool factor. Something Maxell hasn't lost sight of over the years.
Maxell continued to explore and innovate in new markets as many Japanese companies seem to excel at, and branched out into medical, automotive, and now construction materials. In this industry, Maxell is specifically known is known its Air-tight Products (M.A.P. System) for air-tight houses. These products include their self-adhesive Pipe & Wall Sealers, Air Sealing and Flashing Tape, Air Sealing and Seam Tape, and future sill Seal product named Sill & Wall Sealer.
