Customer selections: they’re the #1 point of stress, complaints and unpredictability for any custom builder or remodeler. But that’s just the nature of the beast, right? Not so fast! Recent psychology research can guide us into understanding how buyers make decisions, how people are influenced by social cues and how custom builders and remodelers can better manage the client selections process. In this session, we’ll use these research findings to show you how to slash the chaos from your selections process and turn it from pain to profit. THIS IS A REPEAT OF THE SESSION BEING OFFERED ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, FROM 10:15-11:15 AM IN ROOM N253.

  • Understand the Fundamental Attribution Error and how it helps transform people problems into situation problems that can be fixed once and for all.
  • Learn how to balance doing truly custom projects with the paralysis that can come from giving clients too many choices.
  • Organize and present selections using the 80/20 rule in a way that makes clients feel in control, highlights your expertise and keeps the schedule on track.

Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
