In a world forever changed by the pandemic, builders and developers are concerned about the future of new homes and communities. What changes are necessary to adapt to shifting consumer expectations? How can we deliver appealing homes in communities that help residents feel connected while minimizing health risks? During this session, you’ll see how historical market and design trends led to development conditions at the start of 2020, explore future community design ideas based on consumer research and input from builders and developers from across the country, and learn how how to generate success through calculated, research-based decisions about product type, density, community layout, green space, social connectivity and amenities.

  • Discover what current community design and consumer preferences need to be addressed based on consumer research, including concerns brought to light by the pandemic.
  • Understand how the effects of COVID-19 will impact consumer home buying decisions, including markets, product types, and community design features.
  • Identify what changes to expect for land purchase decisions, development timelines and design features to ensure future communities give buyers what they want.
  • Learn the new pandemic-sensitive product and community design solutions that builders and developers can apply to their next projects to instill confidence in future home buyers.
