What It's About
The supply of market-rate multifamily housing that is affordable and attainable is not keeping up with the need, and COVID-19 has made the situation even more challenging. While costs continue to rise, some are finding ways to develop new housing, without subsidies, that meets the needs of renters with moderate incomes. This session will explore how multifamily developers are doing just that. Topics include: where opportunities exist, proven strategies for capitalizing on them, policy that best promotes the development of more attainable housing, and the potential trend toward more suburban multifamily housing and its impact on affordability.
