Pre-Show Master Workshop
After the COVID Bump: Combating Margin Squeeze & Finding Profit in the Process
Monday, January 30 | 1:00 - 4:00 PM
LVCC - West 218
What It’s About
After the unexpected "COVID Bump" led to high and often record profits, most builders are now feeling the impact of material and labor shortages on margins, further aggravated by higher interest rates. While work to reduce material cost continues, builders will find greater margin opportunities through an aggressive, concentrated focus on their processes. This Master Workshop provides a macro overview of the 12 key processes all builders must create, maintain and perform in order to increase margins. In an interactive setting, learn how to effectively use Excel templates to systematically evaluate key processes with data, including schedule impact, true cost of variance, wasted trips to building sites and more.
What You’ll Learn
- Understand why the "COVID Bump" that increased builder profits can no longer keep pace with labor, material, land and overhead costs.
- Identify the 12 key processes all builders must build, maintain and continually improve and how they can provide the greatest opportunity to increase profit in any market.
- Understand why traditional methods to measure process impact have been largely ineffective at capturing the true total impact on both product and process.
- Learn how to apply newly acquired skills using provided Excel templates designed to enable fully accurate evaluation of process impact, using your own data.
