    What It's About

As states and local jurisdictions consider updates to their energy codes, builders need to know what’s new in the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and how it may impact their work. This session will break down the key differences between the 2024 IECC and past editions, focusing on changes that improve usability and what they mean for construction costs. A panel of HBA leaders from a state that has already implemented the 2024 IECC for more than a year will share how the transition has played out in real life—the challenges, the wins, and the lessons learned. Attendees will also hear about new on-demand resources available on NAHB.org to help them navigate the code with confidence. Leave empowered with the tools and knowledge needed to not only understand the impact for your business, but also engage in informed discussions about energy code adoption in your community.

    What You’ll Learn

    • Discover the significant changes incorporated into the 2024 IECC compared to its previous editions (2021 IECC and 2018 IECC).
    • Understand the major differences in the organization and structure of the compliance paths in the 2024 IECC.
    • Gain a real-world perspective on the impacts of the latest model energy code from HBA leaders from a state that has already implemented the 2024 IECC for more than a year.
    • Empower builders to assist their HBA to frame the discussion on energy code adoption and amendments in their state or jurisdiction.
