What It's About:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes are key components in most air and water barriers. They get tested according to ASTM standards in labs, but often with little connection to what actually happens on job sites. Hear (and see) how one facility developed it’s non-standard, real-world tests to try and assess just which tapes really work and under what conditions, particularly over time. Using a table-top PSA test rig and testing video, this session will explore various types of field tests, what conditions truly matter in overall performance and which tapes survived the rough-no-holds-barred approach. You’ll even get to do a bit of your own “stress testing”. The results will help you create higher performance air and water barriers for the homes you build.
What You'll Learn:
Learn how to truly assess and test PSA construction tapes.
Determine what conditions are important for getting long-term PSA tape bonding.
Understand the basic types and chemistry of PSA construction tapes.
Discover the steps to stress and test PSA tapes on their own.
How to Attend:
Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
