What It's About:
A traditional eave, with overhanging rafter tails, not only complicates the framing process, it compromises insulation, air sealing and the connection between rafters and walls. We'll show you how to overcome all of these issues by eliminating the rafter tails (for now—you’ll add them later) and letting wall sheathing run right up to the roof sheathing.
What You’ll See and Learn:
- How to use engineered lumber strategically
- Why it makes sense to move headers into the roof framing
- The importance of raised-heel trusses and when I-joist rafters make sense
- Roof framing without overhanging rafter tails
How to Participate:
Demos and activities in the High Performance Building Zone are free to attend and no pre-registration is required. To participate, please visit the HPBZ at the date, time and location indicated above. Seating will be available.
