What It's About:
High performance building means more insulation and better air-sealing (among other things) which, in turn, leads to a more comfortable, healthier and more durable house that costs less to heat and cool—unless you do it wrong. Mistakes can lead to mold, rot and poor energy performance. We’ll demonstrate the details that builders commonly get wrong when framing, air sealing and insulating a house.
What You’ll See and Learn:
- How too much framing lumber impedes performance
- How traditional headers promote thermal bridging and how rafter tails complicate air sealing
- The most commonly overlooked spots for air sealing and house wrap mistakes you’re likely making
- Why most windows are bound to leak eventually
How to Participate:
Demos and activities in the High Performance Building Zone are free to attend and no pre-registration is required. To participate, please visit the HPBZ at the date, time and location indicated above. Seating will be available.
