Mikel Vandegenachte-Ochs
Whisper Creek Homes
Hamilton, Montana
Mikel Vandegenachte-Ochs is the President and Owner of Whisper Creek Homes, a Montana-based panelized wall system manufacturer crafted in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley. Since 2004, Whisper Creek has been a quiet force in offsite construction — among the first to fully finish exteriors, integrate log and timber elements, and deliver a precut roof system that gets families into their homes 20–30% faster than traditional builds.
A 5th-generation Montanan, Mikel grew up between a detail-oriented mother and a craftsman father, and that blend of precision and pride shows up in everything Whisper Creek produces. She has spent over 15 years with the National Association of Home Builders Building Systems Council, serving as both Vice Chair and Chair, and is a founding member of the Bitterroot Builders Association's Professional Women in Building Council.
Under her leadership, Whisper Creek has earned NAHB Manufacturer of the Year honors and contributed to projects ranging from Disney and Bass Pro to the Yellowstone/Dutton Home set, with homes featured in resort communities like Gozzer Ranch, Stockfarm, and Granby Ranch.
Mikel is a recognized voice in offsite construction, known for solving complex problems with practical, out-of-the-box solutions — and for an unwavering belief that better-built homes start with smarter systems, skilled craftspeople, and the smell of sawdust in the morning.
