Scott Wentz has over 35 years of experience in the homebuilding business. He worked for the Estridge Companies in Indianapolis, IN for 18 years before leaving to help found True Homes in Charlotte, NC in 2007. True Homes is widely recognized as a leader in the industry, having earned the National Housing Quaiity Gold Award in 2018, Professional Builder of the Year in 2020, and is considered a leader in providing affordable housing and community based solutions. Through their True Foundation, they have a focus and passion for workforce development and creating pathways for individuals to enter into the homebuilding business. Scott was insturmental in creating a nationally recognized partnership with NC A&T, one of the oldest HBCU's in the country, that exemplifies what a Builder / University partnership can do to promote residential construction and provide support for their NAHB Student Chapter. Scott is the Founder of a non-profit called Builders Bridge, which creates pathways for young adults to get jobs in the residential industry that lead to long term living wage careers. Scott has a long association with the NAHB Student Competition program and serves as an Advisory Board Member. Scott also sits on the Board of Trustees of the National Housing Endowment and currently serves as Board Chair of the Home Education Leadership Program (HELP) Grant Program. Scott and his wife Lou reside in Fort Mill, SC and have four children and 4 grandchildren.
