John Van Lagen, son of founder Joe Van Lagen, has been leading Joe’s Carpentry alongside his brother William since 2005. Under their leadership, the company expanded its horizons — with William launching Carver Cabinetry and John continuing to guide Joe’s Carpentry Inc. to new levels of craftsmanship and client satisfaction. A dedicated industry professional, John is an active member of the Professional Builders Association, the Ontario Home Builders’ Association, and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, where he continually engages with peers to promote excellence, education, and innovation in the residential construction industry. John has been happily married to his wife, Jeannette, for 31 years. Together, they have built a close-knit family of seven children, four in-laws, and three cherished grandchildren. Beyond his work in the construction industry, John enjoys a variety of interests. He’s an avid reader and podcast listener, loves spending time at the lake, and is known to tinker around the house. A gifted singer and community leader, John also serves as President of the Timotheos Foundation Canada, a mission organization supporting work in Malawi. A fun fact: John is also a talented cook. When his children were young, he often invited them to “John’s Diner” — a family favorite where the menu always featured his homemade creations.
