Hoffman Strategy Group

Everything for Jerry Hoffman begins with economics — because economics creates clarity, and clarity drives better housing and stronger communities. With more than 35 years of experience as a regional and urban economist, Jerry helps builders, developers, and municipalities understand the market forces that shape residential demand, product mix, absorption, and long-term value. His work translates demographic and economic trends into actionable development strategies for single-family, multifamily, mixed-use, and master-planned communities. Jerry founded Hoffman Strategy Group (HSG) in 2012, now a national leader in housing market analysis, economic feasibility, and development strategy. Under his direction, HSG has informed more than $10 billion in housing and mixed-use investment by identifying the right combination of uses, pricing, density, and phasing to ensure both market viability and community longevity. His portfolio includes large-scale master plans such as a 4,000-acre community outside Tampa, FL, a 7,000-acre community in Hesperia, CA, and the 200-acre Avenue One development in Omaha. He also advises on infill and mid-scale housing projects, including 30-acre mixed-use and residential communities in Columbus, OH. Jerry’s work has shaped development decisions for CIM Group, The New Home Company, McWhinney, Starwood Capital, North American Properties (now Jamestown), Neal Communities, and municipalities across the country. Jerry’s focus on the economics of housing helps clients build communities that are both financially resilient and rooted in long-term market demand.
