James Hood

James Hood is the Operations Coordinator and Build Advisor at Whisper Creek Homes, and the Owner and Boots-on-the-Ground partner at Black Sheep Pro Build, which he operates alongside his role at Whisper Creek. Black Sheep is a Montana-based assembly company serving offsite construction packages across MT, ID, NM, and AZ, partnering with Whisper Creek and other manufacturers to deliver seamless onsite assembly while training local framers and contractors to bid SIP and panelized assemblies as subs — helping builders expand their business without expanding overhead. James got his start in building under the wing of his uncle, who took him in after a bit of childhood mischief and handed him a future instead. That experience shapes him still: he's a dedicated mentor to youth and young builders entering the trades. After years working for GCs and running his own crews, James now splits his time between supporting Whisper Creek clients and growing Black Sheep, with modular assembly on the horizon. A proud father at heart, James lives by a slower mountain pace and the belief that craftsmanship is best passed hand to hand.
