Robert Wood is the co-founder and Owner/President of Mountainwood Homes, a Portland-area residential design-build firm specializing in remodeling and custom home building.
A second-generation builder, Robert grew up in the construction trades and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University. His engineering background shaped his approach to business, with an emphasis on the systems, processes, technology, and infrastructure needed to build a company designed to last.
In 2008, Robert and his wife, Heather, founded Mountainwood Homes around the philosophy of “Building Clients for Life,” combining thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, proven, repeatable processes, and a consistent focus on the client experience.
Today, Mountainwood Homes has grown to more than 40 team members and has completed thousands of projects throughout the Portland area.
Robert’s industry leadership extends beyond Mountainwood. He is a Certified Master Remodeling Professional and Certified Master Building Professional, a past president of the Home Building Association of Greater Portland, and currently serves on multiple NAHB national committees, including the Remodelers Board of Trustees. In 2026, he was named the 2025 NAHB Remodeler of the Year and received the honor at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando. Robert is also committed to giving back through Mountainwood’s support of the Home Building Foundation and other local nonprofits.
