What It's About:

Where will the economy go in 2020? This advanced session will focus on the state of the nation's economy and its impact on housing. As the market suffers from affordability constraints and lack of inventory, due to ongoing shortages of labor and lots, this advanced session will present both challenges and opportunities for builders and suppliers over the next year. Nationally-recognized economists will discuss the outlook for employment, housing prices and construction starts (for single-family and multifamily) and remodeling. An analysis of the strength of the housing sector will be provided as well as financial conditions and their impact on builders and buyers—revealing market strengths by region.

What You'll Learn:

  • Discover how NAHB's benchmark indexes measure the strength of housing demand.
  • Understand how fiscal, monetary and regulatory policies influence the housing market.
  • Discuss what challenges might be on the horizon for the home building industry.
  • Learn about the credit market conditions for builders and buyers, as well as industry headwinds such as labor and lot shortages and the price of building materials.
