What It's About:

This advanced session will explore the characteristics of new homes built today and highlight how they have changed since 2000, the features builders are most (and least) likely to include in the typical home they build in 2020 and the specific buyer preferences and perceptions about affordability and availability in the housing market. NAHB's most up-to-date home trends research will be illustrated using winners from the latest class of Best in American Living Award (BALA) winners, who represent the nation’s best in single-family design. Learn the ways you, too, can incorporate these trends into the homes you design and build.

What You'll Learn:

  • Identify the top characteristics of homes being built today and get a peek at what builders are likely to include in new homes in 2020.
  • Learn the home buyers most wanted features, and examine their perceptions about the affordability and availability of homes in their markets.
  • Understand and see trends in colors, materials and projects.
  • Learn to incorporate todays top design features through the eyes of NAHBs Best in American Living award winners.

How to Attend:

Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
