What It's About

In the current market, most builders have good cash flow thanks to strong sales. Yet with labor, materials and land costs up significantly, margins have suffered. Some have been able to increase sales price to cover costs, but that will not continue in 2022. The answer is not simply accepting lower margins; instead, builders can adopt ‘lean’ building methods that identify and remove waste in all areas of product and process. This session will explore key elements of lean building and highlight opportunities for tremendous margin recovery -- including one little-known item averaging $12,500. Learn how to systematically apply lean thinking to reduce cost and create more profit for builders, suppliers and trades alike, all while building a better home and achieving higher customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Learn

  • Review the key lessons learned from lean implementation with over 200 builders and more than 5,000 suppliers and trades.
  • Learn how to identify and measure the True Total Cost Impact of lean processes and increase Value (Benefit/Cost).
  • Review highlights of specific value improvements resulting from the removal of waste in both product and process.
  • Discover how the use of lean methods can earn preference among suppliers and trades not just for material and labor, but also the best delivery and crews.
