What It's About

In the 55+ market, the floor plan life cycle is shorter now than ever and is greatly influenced by homebuyers who are of the age where you deliver exactly want they want or they walk away. The most successful 55+ home designs continue to evolve in response to changing consumer preferences. In light of the significant shifts to how we want to live brought on by the pandemic, it makes predicting preferences even more challenging. This session will highlight the evolution of 55+ floor plan design—where they’ve been and where they’re going. Gain ideas for modifying older plans or starting from scratch. Take away the knowledge of how your new homes can be successful today and still target everything a 55+ buyer wants tomorrow.

What You’ll Learn

  • Learn how to assess new designs to ensure they will truly allow homeowners to achieve a desired lifestyle.
  • Recognize how social distancing has altered our idea of closeness, and learn how to to design attached homes that maintain a sense of privacy and individuality.
  • Review the "one room house" design principles that provide the lifestyle 55+ buyers want.
  • Analyze how to present spaces, features and interior details in a cohesive way to engage the most discriminatory buyers.

How to Attend

Participants must be registered for an All Access Pass or 1-Day Education + Expo Pass for the day of the session. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
