How to Find the Money Hiding in Every Floor Plan

Thursday, February 4 | 10:00 - 11:00 AM LVCC - West 217

Some of the best opportunities to reduce cost may be hiding in your plans, and the trades who build them often know exactly where to look. See how bringing trade partners into the floor plan design process can uncover simple changes that reduce cost and waste and create savings that compound across every home you build. Using before-and-after plans and real project examples, an architect and two lifelong builders will share lessons learned directly from concrete contractors, framers, HVAC and plumbing trades. Explore foundation design, framing assemblies and truss layouts, and HVAC and plumbing coordination that can reduce lumber, speed installation, eliminate wasted space and field changes, and ultimately improve margins.

  • Identify how foundation contractors would revise a floor plan to decrease cost/complexity and the actual dollars those revisions can save.
  • Learn how to self-analyze wall assemblies and truss layouts to identify potential cost savings adjustments you can validate with framing crews.
  • Discover how input from HVAC, plumbing and electrical trades can immediately boost profit margin.

Participants must be registered for an Expo + Education pass. Seating for sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
