Exteriors & Elevations Designed to Sell
Wednesday, February 3 | 12:30 - 1:30 PM |LVCC - West 229
Compelling exterior elevations begin with the floor plan. This session explores how architectural style, plan layout, massing, proportions and roof geometry work together to create homes that capture buyer interest and communicate value. Learn how to select styles that reflect your community’s identity, regional context and target buyer, then carry that design intent through all four sides of the home. Through residential case studies, discover practical strategies for balancing architectural character, construction cost and site constraints—and using materials and details to reinforce a cohesive design.
- Select architectural styles that align with regional context, buyer preferences, price point and community identity.
- Evaluate how floor plan layout, massing, proportions, roof geometry and plate heights shape exterior elevations and influence curb appeal.
- Apply design strategies that balance exterior appeal and livability with construction cost, climate, sloping sites and height restrictions.
- Develop a cohesive kit of materials and architectural details that reinforces the intended style across all four elevations while addressing community design guidelines.
