Builders often struggle to sell new high performance homes over resale homes because they make the mistake of trying to compete on purchase price. But the simple fact is, new homes often do cost more. Why? Because they offer more durable construction, more comfortable living, a healthier indoor environment, water and energy savings and lower utility costs! These incredible high performance features are in demand and here to stay—we shouldn’t shy from or give them away. In this session, learn how to, instead, promote and sell the short- and long-terms cost savings and benefits of new construction homes using energy efficiency talking points. Illustrate changes in building and energy codes, promote your HERS Index scores and communicate the advances our industry has implemented as you demonstrate to buyers and real estate professionals why the “cost to own” is far more important and easily makes up for any difference in “price to buy”.
Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Building Knowledge sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Building Knowledge Session – These 60 minute sessions are the foundation of IBS education. With more than 100 sessions in 7 education tracks, you are guaranteed to find programs on the hottest, most relevant building industry topics. Full registration or 1-day education registration for the day of the session is required.
Master Session – These sessions are in-depth, three-hour intensive programs that dig deeper into specific industry topics. Master sessions are open to those with a Full registration or a 1-day education registration for the day of the session, but have limited seating for an optimal learning experience. Attendees may guarantee a seat for $25 per session during registration. Prior to each session, any non-guaranteed seating will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis at no additional charge.
Spotlight Session – These 60-minute sessions feature high-profile speakers and highlight the latest trends the industry has to offer. Full registration or 1-day education registration for the day of the session is required.
Game Changer Session – These twice daily keynotes feature thought leaders who are transforming their companies and the way we think about and address issues critical to the housing industry. Full registration or 1-day education registration for the day of the session is required.
Tech Bytes Session – These 30 minute sessions offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity to discover the latest tech applications and platforms through hands-on experiences. Following each session, speakers offer "Office Hours" where you can see extended demos or work one-on-one with an expert. Full registration or 1-day education registration for the day of the session is required.
Advanced - Attendees should have extensive prior knowledge of the subject matter.
Intermediate - Attendees should have fundamental prior knowledge of the subject matter.
Novice - Attendees need little or no prior knowledge of the subject matter.
