Mikel has been building since childhood. She began her construction journey working alongside her father, learning the craft of creating something from nothing. That early spark evolved into a lifelong career. As owner and visionary leader of Whisper Creek by 1978 LLC and Montana Log & Timber, Mikel has pioneered sustainable building systems and custom log and timber solutions. Her companies have earned multiple NAHB awards, including honors for excellence in home design, marketing, and Manufacturer of the Year. Clients range from discerning residential homeowners to industry giants like Bass Pro Shops, Disney, and the Yellowstone series production team. Under her leadership, Whisper Creek received the 2021 Off-Site Construction Manufacturer of the Year award. Mikel is not just a builder—she’s an educator and industry advocate. She has hosted and participated in numerous NAHB Shop Talks, contributed multiple educational videos for the NAHB Building Systems Council’s off-site construction series, and spoken at IBS education sessions and Building Systems Council panel talks over the past 15 years. Mikel continues to share her knowledge on off-site construction, log and timber systems, and systems-built project strategies as an advisor, educator, and sought-after speaker.
