Grace Tsao Mase is the author of “AI in Residential Construction: A Blueprint for Lasting Impact and Success” (NAHB, 2026). She is a multi-state licensed contractor with NASCLA accreditation, a trained architect, and the founder of HomeRES.ai, a Fast Company World Changing Ideas award winner. She holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a B.A. in Architecture from UC Berkeley.
Her firsthand experience with the Loma Prieta earthquake and the Oakland Hills firestorm during her undergraduate years at UC Berkeley shaped her early focus on resilience. She began her career as a campus architect and project manager at UC Berkeley, specializing in seismic retrofitting and fire safety, then volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven while in grad school to design and build her first ground-up house. Evacuating during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires later reinforced that focus, directly shaping her work in resilience-focused construction.
Grace spent the past decade focused on machine learning and natural language processing, the technologies behind the AI tools reshaping construction. With close to 30 years in digital product leadership, three U.S. patents, and hands-on experience alongside contractors on more than 5,000 projects nationwide, her mission is to help construction professionals adopt practical tools that increase profit, build more resilient and efficient homes, and grow their businesses smarter.
