Ross MacPherson is Residential Codes & Regulatory Affairs Manager at Aeroseal, where he works to align building envelope and duct sealing technologies with current and emerging energy codes. His role focuses on translating building science into code-compliant solutions for architects, developers, and builders; value engineering projects to meet or exceed energy code requirements while optimizing costs; and aligning product performance with industry standards such as ANSI/RESNET 380 for air sealing. Before joining Aeroseal, MacPherson spent years as a certified HERS (Home Energy Rating System) rater in Massachusetts, where he helped builders meet state airtightness requirements — including the demanding 2014 Massachusetts standard of less than 3 ACH50. That hands-on rater experience gives him a ground-level understanding of where envelope performance gaps appear in real builds and what they cost builders in rework, failed tests, and compliance delays. He has presented at NEHERS (Northeast Home Energy Rating System) Alliance events on how emerging air sealing technologies can help builders meet or exceed code-required airtightness levels, and is a recognized voice on the practical intersection of building science and regulatory compliance in residential construction.
