What It's About:

A demo at the 2017 HPBZ

Moving some of the insulation outside of the wall sheathing eliminates thermal bridging and minimizes rot, but it also makes it harder to install doors, windows and siding. We’ll explain why exterior insulation is worth the trouble and demonstrate the proper installation of several types of rigid insulation, along with the proper details around doors, windows and foundations.

What You’ll See and Learn:

Attendees examine the frame built at the 2017 HPBZ

  • Exterior insulation options and installation tips
  • Fastener choice varies with material and thickness
  • Detailing around doors, windows and foundations
