What It's About:
How do you ensure healthier and safer indoor environments when your clients don’t want to open windows all year round? It starts with selecting low-VOC building materials and assembling them correctly. Then, you need a set of lungs for the house, in other words, an ERV or HRV that brings in fresh air and expels stale air without a huge energy penalty. In this demonstration, we’ll talk about how to reduce toxins and maximize fresh air in a high performance house.
What You’ll See and Learn:
- How material choice affects indoor air quality and what materials to avoid
- Understanding combustion processes and make-up air and how much ventilation is needed to ensure proper air quality control
- The simplest of ventilation systems: exhaust-only ventilation
- Installing an energy recovery ventilator (ERV or HRV)
How to Participate:
Demos and activities in the High Performance Building Zone are free to attend and no pre-registration is required. To participate, please visit the HPBZ at the date, time and location indicated above. Seating will be available.
