Using Home Energy Monitoring Systems to Maximize Energy Use & ROI

Thursday, January 23 | 1:30 - 2:00 PM

Event Type: Floor Education

Location: LVCC - High Performance Building Zone - N135, N145

Registration Type: All IBS registration types

Presenter(s): Eric Goranson

What It's About:

You can build a top of the line high performance home, but unless the owner is using its energy efficiency features correctly, they are likely flushing money down the drain. Utility bills offer very little information on how energy and power is being used, but with a home energy monitoring system (HEMS), those details can easily be filled in. A HEMS is an information gateway and key smart home component for understanding and maximizing a home’s energy use—in this presentation, Eric will show you how they work and how they benefit the builder and the buyer.

What You’ll See and Learn:

  • Learn the difference between household and individual appliance monitors
  • See how these systems can benefit the builder and the consumer
  • Learn how to make sure these systems will work with other systems such as solar
